St Christopher's supported Mum in the earlier stages of her illness by providing support in their Orpington outpatient facility. She thoroughly enjoyed the chance to give and receive support from staff and fellow patients. Our association with the end of life services at St Christopher's was short but intense. Mum was receiving active treatment from the Oncology Team at Guys until two weeks before she died. In her last days her health rapidly deteriorated and the response from St Christopher's Community team was extraordinary. They provided the people, equipment and medication we needed to allow Mum to have a private and peaceful death at home. In conjunction with the District Nurses, St Christopher's staff were available 24/7 and offered us a bespoke package of care which met all our needs. Not knowing how much we would need the hospice, Mum asked for donations to St Christophers in lieu of flowers in her funeral instructions written two years before she died. Her choice proved prophetic. If other families can be helped as we were we would be delighted if you would donate to The Hospice in memory of my Mum. With every blessing Lisa (Jean's daughter)
